Grant us, O Lord, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Confession, Repentance, and Commitment to End Racism Sunday - On June 17th, nine members of Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, were murdered by a white racist during their weekly bible study. Just a few days later in Salt Lake City the General Convention of The Episcopal Church committed ourselves to stand in solidarity with the AME Church as they respond with acts of forgiveness, reconciliation, and justice (Resolution A302). Our sisters and brothers in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church have asked us to make that solidarity visible by participating in “Confession, Repentance, and Commitment to End Racism Sunday” on Sunday, September 6. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori and President of the House of Deputies the Rev. Gay Clark Jennings ask all Episcopal congregations to join this ecumenical effort with prayer and action. St. Paul’s will join this statement of solidarity this Sunday. Please join us. Click heading above for more information.
Discretionary Fund Reminder – Funds are low and need is high. These funds are used to help those in our community less fortunate than we are. Checks may also be made out to St. Paul’s with ‘discretionary fund’ on the memo line at any time during the month. Please be as generous as possible.
Laying on of Hands – Those wishing to receive laying on our hands this morning are asked to gather at the Baptismal Font (just as you entered the church) immediately after you have received communion.
Looking Ahead
Welcome Back Sunday! Sunday Sept 13th is Welcome Back Sunday – We will return to two worship opportunities at 8 and 10. At both the 8 and the 10 we will have a backpack and ‘anything you need to make it through the week’ blessing. We will also commission our Sunday School children and teachers for another year. At 9 AM that morning we will share breakfast together.
Celebration of New Ministry – Mark your calendars! On Friday, October 16, we will welcome the Rt. Rev. Thomas C. Ely, Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Vermont, clergy from around the diocese, as well area clergy and community members as we celebrate our new ministry together as the Parish of St. Paul’s. This is a fun, festive evening of wonderful liturgy and fellowship. Don’t miss it! If you would like to be a part of the planning for this event, please speak to Dede Mackie, Jon Chaffee or Scott Neal.
Altar Guild Meeting –Sept 20th The Altar Guild will meet at 11:30 am in the Sanctuary. Anyone interested in finding out more about the Altar Guild or joining us in this quiet ministry is invited to join us.
Listen Community Dinner – Sign-up sheets for the Listen Community Dinner September 21st is almost complete. Thank you to those who signed up! We still need more volunteers to make four chicken vegetable casseroles and three dozen chocolate chip cookies. I recently was told numbers of people coming for a meal is steadily up. Each cook team has been asked to have at least six people working in the kitchen or more. We need three more volunteers to sign up for September 21st. If you want more information, contact Holly.
Holiday Bazaar - Please mark your calendars! November 14th will be our "Holiday Bazaar". I will be checking in with you as to what part you will play. Thank you, Jill Devins (802-291-6832 or jdevinsvt@gmail.com)
