This will be the fifth Sunday after Pentecost. We'll hear the famous parable of the sower sowing the seed -- some on good ground, some not so much. And we'll hear the story of Esau selling his birthright to his brother Jacob "for a mess of pottage." Please join us at 9am!

Here are this week's announcements:

ESCIP Trust India (from Rachel McConnell)
Come to the parish house Wednesday, July 16, at 6pm to hear ESCIP director, Jon Sigworth, speak about his ministry to fellow quadriplegics in Delhi, India.

Visit www.escip.org to find out more about Jon's story and the lives touched by the ESCIP ministries. From the web site:

ESCIP Trust India was established in the spring of 2013, but began as a project of the Sigworth Family in 2006 after 19 year old American Jonathan Sigworth fell from a 70 ft. cliff on his bicycle in Musoorie, becoming paralyzed below his arms.  Jonathan and his mother Vicky have returned to India almost every year since in order to work with fellow advocates to find new ways of improving access to SCI rehabilitation.

An award-winning filmmaker, Jonathan is a 2013 graduate of Dartmouth College, where he studied Dramatic Writing and Literature, and co-founded Stories Growing Films, Dartmouth’s first student-run film production club.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Please RSVP at rachel.a.mcconnell@gmail.com, so we know how many to expect.

The Alleluia Golf Tournament, Saturday, September 13th (from Stew Wood)

Golfers, craft your foursomes for the third annual Alleluia Golf Tournament at the Basin Harbor Club outside of Vergennes, VT on Saturday, September 13th.  This fun event in which St. Paul's teams have done so well supports the programming life of the Diocese of Vermont.

The course is fun, with very little water to worry you and no hills to climb.  Box lunches nourish us as we compete, a great dinner awaits us when we're finished, and lots of prizes are there to be awarded the participants.

Let Stew Wood know of your intention to play.  We can car pool to make the trip easier for all of us.

LISTEN Community Dinners on July 14th and July 21st (from Holly Hall and Harry Kendrick)
Our next LISTEN Community Dinner will be July 14th, organized by Holly and Ev. The following Monday, July 21st, the Kendrick's will organize and serve a meal.  There will be two more meals for 2014, one in Sept. and one in November.

For the 14th, Ev and Holly will organize summer salads and dessert.  For July 14th, we will plan on feeding 100 people.  The menu is for main course and dessert only.   Ray (Food Coordinator for Listen) will provide all other foods. Our  main courses will be four summer salads- Chicken Salad; Pasta Salad; Macaroni with Tuna;  and Black Bean and Corn salad. One prepared salad will serve 10 people.  Three people will be needed to sign up for each salad.

For dessert, we will serve vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce.  Ray suggested we can get vanilla ice cream and the chocolate sauce from BJ's.

The salads can be left at the church fridge Sunday, July 13th, or brought to Listen Center between 3PM and 4PM July 14th. There is a sign up sheet in the parish hall. Thank you for your help!

For the 21st, Barwood-Kendrick team will be using the money donated to the church at the bargain bin and will be making pulled pork sandwiches with tossed salad.  Most of our supplies have already been donated by Listen.  We will need 12 half gallons of ice cream for dessert.   We will place a sign up sheet in the Parish Hall.

The attendance for each Listen Dinner has averaged between 80-100 people.  One hundred thirty is highest capacity.   Thank you for your help in providing a meal for Listen cnter.

St. Paul's Caring Ministries:
Intercessory Prayer Group, Healing Team, Pastoral Care
(from Diana Collins)
Is God calling you to intentionally minister to our community?  If the answer is "yes" or "maybe" please contact Holly Hall or Diana Collins for more information.  While the ministries are different, the common denominator is our caring for one another.  All three groups are planning on meeting together every other month for study and to better understand how the ministries interrelate.
