Parish Picnic (from Jon Chaffee)
Please join us for a picnic after church this Sunday (June 29)! St. Paul's will provide hot dogs and hamburgers, buns and chips, coolers and ice for drinks, paper plates, cups and forks, pops ups and tables. We will have a croquet and a bocci set. Bring your own non-alcoholic drinks and a salad or desert to share. BYO chair and any other game you would like to share.
We expect to be ready for lunch by 12:30. We will say "thank-you" to Robbie. Then games will continue long enough for Mark Detzer or Dan Mackie to become King of Croquet, or not.
The location is Kilowatt NORTH. The new one-lane bridge at Gillette St. is blocked on Monday. Reach the park by turning off Rt. 5 onto Depot St. headed toward the river, then left onto Norwich Ave. by the Post Office. Turn immediately right onto an unmarked street just beyond a one story apartment building and cross that bridge over the railroad tracks as if going to Kilowatt South. Turn immediately left onto Passumpsic Ave. following the sign to Kilowatt North, and go North past the Kendrick's house to Gillette St.. Turn right and follow the Kilowatt North signs. The tents and tables will be down by the water.

St. Paul's Caring Ministries:
Intercessory Prayer Group, Healing Team, Pastoral Care (from Diana Collins)
Is God calling you to intentionally minister to our community? If the answer is "yes" or "maybe" please contact Holly Hall or Diana Collins for more information. While the ministries are different, the common denominator is our caring for one another. All three groups are planning on meeting together every other month for study and to better understand how the ministries interrelate.

Pilgrimage for Earth: From Loss to Hope (2014 Liturgy Festival of St. James, Woodstock)
Various sites (Canterbury, NH; Norwich, VT; Killington, VT; Hanover, NH), Thursday 6/26 through Sunday 6/29
All are invited to share in this ecumenical "pilgrimage" over four days, which adapts the traditional Easter liturgy as a means to encourage participants toward deeper environmental stewardship. As the event's organizers explain:
"Pilgrimage for Earth is an invitation to participate in healing the Earth community through undertaking a sacred journey from loss to hope. In a time when climate change, mass extinction, and other environmental crises threaten people and other forms of life, Pilgrimage for Earth enacts the healing of the world through liturgy. In the original Greek, "liturgy" means "the public work"--communal action that both ritually and practically transforms and heals participants and the world. Through experiences including tree planting, mourning, preparing to act, and celebrating the hope and promise of new life, the pilgrims will transform their relationship with Earth and cultivate an active spiritual discipline of environmental stewardship. Rooted in the Christian tradition of death and rebirth as exemplified in Easter--itself a transformation of loss into hope--the Pilgrimage welcomes people of all faiths and traditions. With multiple events over four days in NH and VT, participants may join the entire Pilgrimage or individual events."

LISTEN Community Dinners on July 14th and July 21st (from Holly Hall and Harry Kendrick)
Our next LISTEN Community Dinner will be July 14th, organized by Holly and Ev. The following Monday, July 21st, the Kendrick's will organize and serve a meal. There will be two more meals for 2014, one in Sept. and one in November.
For the 14th, Ev and Holly will organize summer salads and dessert. For July 14th, we will plan on feeding 100 people. The menu is for main course and dessert only. Ray (Food Coordinator for Listen) will provide all other foods. Our main courses will be four summer salads- Chicken Salad; Pasta Salad; Macaroni with Tuna; and Black Bean and Corn salad. One prepared salad will serve 10 people. Three people will be needed to sign up for each salad.
For dessert, we will serve vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Ray suggested we can get vanilla ice cream and the chocolate sauce from BJ's.
Because we are serving a large number of people, please feel free to ask neighbors and family members to help total ten servings for one salad.
The salads can be left at the church fridge Sunday, July 13th, or brought to Listen Center between 3PM and 4PM July 14th. A sign up sheet with above menu will be posted at church Friday for Sunday services.
For the 21st, Barwood-Kendrick team will be using the money donated to the church at the bargain bin and will be making pulled pork sandwiches with tossed salad. Most of our supplies have already been donated by Listen. We will need 12 half gallons of ice cream for dessert. We will place a sign up sheet in the Parish Hall.
The attendance for each Listen Dinner has averaged between 80-100 people. One hundred thirty is highest capacity. Thank you for your help in providing a meal for Listen cnter.
